(BEIJING, September 2) -- A press conference about media services during the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games was held on September 2 at the Main Press Center. Sha Wanquan, director of the MPC Venue Operation Team; Sun Weijia, director of the Media Operations Department of BOCOG; and Zhang Qiuping, director of the Paralympic Games Department of BOCOG all addressed the press.

According to Sha, after providing successful service during the Beijing Olympic Games, the MPC will undergo a brief transition and re-open for the Beijing Paralympics Games. The facilities and services at the Paralympic Games will be maintained at the same level and standard as the Olympic Games, which is "an innovation in Paralympic history." It shows the high attention given by the Chinese government and BOCOG to media services during the Paralympic Games.

During the Olympic Games, the MPC was rated favorably in terms of facilities and services. On September 2 and 3, the MPC will be open from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. for more than 2,000 accredited journalists, photographers and the non-right holding broadcasting organizations who are here to cover the Paralympic Games. From September 4 to 20, the MPC will be open 24 hours a day.

According to recent registration, 47 journalists who are wheelchair users from 13 countries and regions, as well as several journalists with visual impairment, will be involved in the Beijing Paralympic Games. The special requirements of members of the media with disabilities have been given full consideration.
